Tazeem Weljie

Taz has over 15 years of experience in strategy and business operations spanning six countries (Canada, China, Guyana, Japan, UK, and the US) and three industries. With a passion for making organizations be as efficient as possible, Taz intersects her experience in the social sector with her background in the private sector in Human Resources, Communications, Process Improvement, and Project Management. She employs both her left and right brain to analytically and creatively tackle any problem – big or small.

With the ability to see the big picture, while rolling up her sleeves, Taz leads companies and business units through growth and change by building processes, policies and infrastructure that are efficient, scalable and can be adapted throughout global offices. Using Lean mapping methodology, she is constantly looking for ways to make “things” work better.

Having a passion for people, she identifies talent needed to create high-performing teams and has developed and implemented recruitment and onboarding processes resulting in organizational growth of 50% in 18 months and $200K efficiencies. She is a culture ambassador and ensures people are at the forefront by creating and executing change plans and ensuring transparent communications through internal and external communications strategies.

Having worked with the National Health Service (NHS) in London, UK, and having been a Director of a school-health based non-profit organization in Vancouver, Canada, she is well versed in assessing community needs through listening and learning processes and then developing and driving strategies to move organizations closer to their mission. She is a master relationship builder, fostering significant relationships with clients, government partners, funders, stakeholders and the community at large.

Being a consultant and a global citizen has taught Taz to adapt to diverse cultures and to be curious, ask questions and challenge assumptions. It has taught her to drive solutions by challenging the status quo, and how to apply innovation and creativity in order to stay relevant and leading edge.

In her spare time, Taz volunteers as a member of the Board of Managers at the McBurney YMCA in New York where she has strategic oversight and sits on the board development and finance committees. She has also spent five months in Guyana as a Strategic Planner on behalf of the government, and most recently, she co-chaired a fundraiser social in NYC for young professionals. She ran operations for a 200-person event that resulted in a 136% increase in revenue and 13x increase in net funds from 2017- 2018.

For fun, she has run four half marathons, summited Mount Kilimanjaro, jumps on a bike for a spin, is a part-time yogi, a foodie, reader, a globetrotter, and a proud aunty!
