A group of Black Albertan artists visit the community once known as Keystone, now Breton, founded by Black farmers in 1909. In search of connection to the land and their history, the collective meets with Allan Goddard of the Breton Museum as well as descendants of the original founders. The journey leads to creative explorations of their experience.

Join us for this screening of the film Keystone Is…at the Calgary Central Library, presented in partnership with: The Prairie Place-Ancestors Collective, five dynamic artists – Lebogang Disele, Cheryl Foggo, Lisa La Touche, Mpoe Mogale & Masani St. Rose – working together to learn about Alberta and Saskatchewan’s five original Black settlements.

This event will include a talk back with the artists where they’ll share stories of their collaborative artistic process and reflections on their exploration of the 1910 Black migration.
