NOTE: This workshop is intended for artists with advanced study or practical experience in their fields. It is open to actors, dancers, directors, designers and any other artists who wish to explore new methods of collaborative creation.

The Old Trout Puppet Workshop is a company founded on the collaborative nature of creation. The workshop explores exercises that identify the physical awareness and synchronicity of an ensemble, and creates an arena of debate that facilitates an effective sharing of ideas, which in turn builds the foundation of original, theatrical puppet performances.
Peter Balkwill is a co-Artistic Director and Director of Workshops at the Old Trout Puppet Workshop in Calgary. He holds an MFA in Acting from the University of Washington and a BFA in Theatre from the University of Victoria. During his studies Peter had extensive exposure to the unique methods of Tadashi Suzuki, Joan Skinner and Kaz Piesiwaski. He has taught as Head of Movement at the University of Victoria and facilitated workshops with companies across Canada and the U.S., including the Banff Centre, National Theatre School of Canada, Toronto School of Puppetry, Brown University and the RCA Theatre Company.
