Swallow-a-Bicycle Theatre needs your help!
It’s hard to believe, but Swallow-a-Bicycle is approaching its 20th year! This milestone anniversary is coming up in 2026, and we have some exciting plans for the next couple of years, including:
– Continuing our work with the Prairie Place-Ancestors’ Collective in their explorations of the Black histories of the Prairies, with artistic pilgrimages to Maidstone, Saskatchewan and screenings of their short film, Keystone Is….
– Touring Clothing, our participatory performance about fashion supply chains, and The Opposite, an immersive performance about the refugee experience, across Canada and internationally.
– Incubating new work, including feel ur feels (CRINGE LIBERATION), which explores how pleasure, cringe, and the erotic are valuable tools for deepening relationships with ourselves and each other.
But right now, those plans are at risk… because we’re running out of money!
We’re committed to making Swallow-a-Bicycle Theatre a healthy and abundant workplace, which includes paying our staff $35/hour and offering a health spending account. This, along with our general operating expenses, add up to just under $127,000/year, and our operating revenues haven’t yet caught up. We are actively working to build up our operating revenue, but have a gap to fill in 2025-26.
We’ve got a bright future ahead; can you help us get there?
